Ben Kunkle is an Appalachian Rock artist born and raised in Rockingham, VA. Though his music has taken him to the west coast and back, his roots remain firm in the Appalachian range. Truthful and intention based songwriting is the ground he stands on, but Rock N' Roll with an unmistakable hint of Appalachia is his watermark. Ben has always had an interest in music and instruments of all kinds since he was a child, but it came to life when he bought his first guitar at 14.
Ben declares, “I immediately knew there was something inside of me that had to be brought out. The songs just started flowing”. He began playing songwriter rounds and acoustic gigs in his hometown of Harrisonburg, VA late in his teen years, but was then picked up by the “Hackens Boys” and quickly became a seasoned performer. After 3 years with the group, he stepped away to pursue his self named solo project the “Ben Kunkle Band.”
In an interview with Of The Dirt Radio show Ben was asked about what his purpose with music is. He explained, “I just want to make the most genuine music possible for myself and my fans, that's what they need from me. I owe that to them.” Ben approaches his music with gratitude and a hard edged grit that has refined his style as a professional performer for the last 5 years, and as a multi instrumentalist (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) and passionate songwriter he lives to tell a story through song.
